Flexible labour hire when you need it

Our labour hire UK service is built for businesses whose labour needs change from week to week. You might need two labourers for a day to clear a unit, a welder for a fortnight while your own fabricator is off, or a gang of operatives for the length of a refurbishment contract. You tell us the dates, the skills and the site, and we book the people. Plenty of our labour bookings come in the afternoon before the work starts, and we are set up to handle that.

We supply both general labour and skilled trades. General labourers handle loading, clearing, moving materials, basic assembly and site cleaning. Skilled workers include joiners, electricians, welders, plumbers, painters and decorators and maintenance fitters, each checked for the qualifications and cards the job needs. Before confirming a booking we check what PPE the site requires, whether workers need their own tools and what the parking and access arrangements are, because those details are what stop a booking going wrong on the morning.

Bookings are charged by the hour, with a minimum paid shift agreed in advance. If a job overruns you can extend the booking with a phone call, and if it finishes early you can release the worker with the notice set out in our terms. Workers who do well can be requested by name for your next job, which many clients do to build a regular crew.

Why book labour hire through us

01

Book for as long as you need

Bookings can run for a single shift, a week or the whole project, and can be extended or shortened in line with the notice agreed in our terms.

02

Trades checked for the job

We confirm qualifications, cards and experience against the work you describe, so an electrician turns up with the right credentials and a labourer knows the site basics.

03

Request the same workers again

If a worker suits your team, ask for them by name on your next booking and we will do our best to make them available to you.

04

Site details sorted before day one

We confirm PPE, tools, start time, parking and who to report to before the booking, so the first hour is spent working rather than sorting out access.

Checks on every labour booking

Every worker is right to work checked before their first booking, and skilled trades provide evidence of the qualifications the job needs, such as an ECS card for electricians or a CSCS card where the site requires one. Workers are paid through our payroll with tax and National Insurance deducted. If a worker stays in the same role with you for 12 weeks, Agency Workers Regulations 2010 entitlements apply, and we discuss these with you beforehand.

  • Right to work confirmed before the first shift
  • Trade qualifications and cards checked
  • Workers paid through PAYE, never cash in hand

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum booking for labour hire?

Most bookings have a minimum number of paid hours per shift, which we agree with you before confirming. This is typically a half day or a full day depending on the role and the travel involved. There is no minimum number of days, so booking a single shift is fine.

Do labourers bring their own tools and PPE?

Labourers are typically expected to arrive with safety boots, hi-vis and a hard hat where the site needs one. Skilled trades usually bring their own hand tools. Specialist PPE, power tools and plant are normally supplied by the site. We confirm exactly what is needed when you book, so nobody is turned away at the gate.

Can I book the same worker again?

Yes. If you were happy with a worker, ask for them by name. We cannot guarantee availability, because good workers are often booked on other jobs, but we will check with them first and offer you the closest alternative if they are already committed elsewhere.

What if the worker is not right for the job?

Let us know as early in the shift as you can. We will talk to you about what went wrong and arrange a replacement where possible. Our terms explain how charges work if a worker is sent away in the first hours of a booking, so you know the position before you book.

Are your labourers self-employed?

Our workers are engaged through our payroll with tax and National Insurance deducted at source, rather than being paid cash in hand. This protects you from the risks that come with false self-employment and gives workers holiday pay and their other statutory entitlements. Ask us if you have questions about how a particular trade is engaged.
