How our staffing service works

Man Power Contractors UK Ltd is a staffing agency UK employers use when they need reliable people on shift without spending weeks on adverts and interviews. We supply temporary workers for short-notice cover, contractors for fixed-term projects and permanent hires for roles you want filled for the long term. Most clients use a mix of all three, and we manage them through one account so you are not juggling separate suppliers.

Before we put anyone forward we want to understand the job properly. That means the shift pattern, start times, site rules, PPE, any tickets or cards the role needs, and how your supervisors like new starters to be inducted. We then match candidates who have done similar work, check their documents and brief them on the site before their first shift. If you run nights, split shifts or a four on, four off rota, we recruit people who actually want those hours rather than hoping they will adjust.

Pricing is agreed up front. For temporary and contract workers you pay an hourly charge rate that covers pay, holiday pay, employer National Insurance, pension contributions and our margin. For permanent placements we charge a one-off fee once the candidate starts. Either way, you get a named consultant who knows your sites and picks up the phone when a shift needs covering. If something is not working, we want to hear about it early so we can put it right.

Why employers use our staffing agency

01

One supplier for every contract type

Temporary, contract and permanent staff are handled through one account, one set of terms and one consultant, which keeps invoicing and communication simple for your managers.

02

Candidates matched to the shift

We recruit for the hours you actually run. People who want nights, weekends or early starts are far more likely to stay than those taking any shift on offer.

03

Clear charge rates

Charge rates are agreed before the first booking and broken down so you can see what goes to the worker, what covers statutory costs and what our fee is.

04

Cover when people drop out

If a worker cancels or fails to arrive, we look for a replacement straight away and keep you updated, sending someone the same day where possible.

Vetting and compliance

Every worker we supply has their right to work checked in line with Home Office guidance before they start. We operate under the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003, so you receive clear terms and accurate information about each candidate. For temporary workers we track the 12-week qualifying period under the Agency Workers Regulations 2010 and tell you in advance when equal treatment on basic pay and conditions will apply.

  • Right to work checks before the first shift
  • References and work history verified
  • DBS checks where the role requires it
  • AWR 12-week tracking for temporary workers

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to use a staffing agency?

For temporary and contract staff you pay an hourly charge rate. It covers the worker's pay, holiday pay, employer National Insurance, pension contributions and our margin. The rate depends on the role, hours and location, so we quote per assignment. For permanent hires we charge a placement fee based on the agreed salary, payable once the candidate starts.

Who employs the temporary worker?

Temporary workers are engaged by us, not by you. We handle their pay, deductions, holiday pay and pension auto-enrolment. You direct their day-to-day work on site and sign off their timesheets. If you later want to hire a worker directly, talk to us about the temp to perm terms set out in our agreement.

How quickly can you supply staff?

It depends on the role and how specialist it is. For general roles we can often fill shifts at short notice, same day where possible. Roles that need specific tickets, DBS checks or security clearance take longer because the checks have to be completed first. The more notice you give us, the better the match.

What happens if a worker does not turn up?

Tell your consultant as soon as you know. We contact the worker, find out what has happened and start sourcing a replacement immediately. You are not charged for hours that were not worked. If a worker builds up a pattern of missed shifts, we stop placing them with you.

Can we take a temporary worker on permanently?

Yes. Many placements start as temporary and move to permanent once both sides are happy. A transfer fee may apply depending on how long the worker has been with you, or you can choose an extended period of hire instead. Both options are set out in our terms before any booking starts, in line with the 2003 Conduct Regulations.
